Evansville native and University of Evansville alumni Tommy J Housman has been working in Art and Design as a Visual Communication Specialist for almost two decades, specializing in graphic design, photography, motion graphics, web design, video, illustration, and marketing. Tommy believes it is imperative for artists and designers to maintain an ethical and environmentally conscious practice, and he prioritizes working with small businesses, not-for-profits, and community organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of others.
Tommy serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Urban Seeds and has dedicated himself to food equity in the Evansville Metropolitan area, working towards a sustainable, healthy and accessible food system for all. He has worked with the Center for Innovation & Change to create a repeating ChangeLab for students to work with the Board of Directors of Urban Seeds, other food justice organizations, and individuals in the community to present innovative solutions to the challenges of food inequity in our community.
Since 2021, Tommy has worked as The Student Media Advisor at the University of Evansville leading UE students in producing The Crescent Magazine. Working with the Student Media team, he has modernized the publication to be distributed via web, social media, and print. He has also expanded the use of photography, video, and sound allowing students to gain experience through multiple outlets including video interviews, reporting, and podcasts. crescent.evansville.edu.
