Who is the best team in the AFC West? Week 1 was just kicked off and we had some thrilling and entertaining action. The AFC West consists of the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers. The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders faced each other week 1. This was a back and forth game but the Las Vegas Raiders took over in the fourth quarter and barely beat out the Denver Broncos. The Kansas City Chiefs lost a hard fought battle in week 1 to the Detroit Lions. This game was the first game of the season and was the Thursday night football game. This game was also back and forth but the Detroit Lions came out and the Kansas CIty Chiefs barely lost. The Los Angeles Chargers also lost in week 1. They lost in week 1 to the Miami Dolphins. This was an electrifying game and the best game so far this year. This was a back and forth, high scoring game. The Miami Dolphins took the lead in the fourth quarter and barely won the game, handing the Los Angeles Chargers a loss in week one. It was an interesting and entertaining week 1. However, week 1 does not and will not determine the 2023 season. This ranking will be my personal predictions based off of the overall teams, players, and how I think they will finish the year.

In last place of the AFC West will be the Denver Broncos. They have a great defense and a fantastic new coach with Sean Payton. They have a veteran quarterback with Russell WIlson who use to be elite but hasn’t played the same since signing with the Denver Broncos. They also have two great wide receivers with Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton. However, Jerry Jeudy is injured and will miss a couple more weeks. In third place will be the Las Vegas Raiders. They have a solid defense this year with superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby. They have a top eight wide receiver with Devonte Adams and a top 10 running back with Josh Jacobs. Both of these players are explosive and fun to watch. However, they are led by a decent quarterback named Jimmy Garrapollo. 

Now it comes down to the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers. Second place of the AFC West will be no other than the Kansas City Chiefs. I know this probably comes as a huge shocker to most. The Kansas City Chiefs are the defending AFC and Super Bowl champions, winning last year. I am just not impressed with their team this year. They have arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time with Patrick Mahomes, one of the greatest tight ends of all time with Travis Kelce, one of the best coaches of all time with Andy Reid, they have a decent running back room, and they have an alright defense with Chris Jones leading the way. They have no wide receivers who are good. Sky Moore and Kadarius Toney proved in week 1 that they cannot catch a football. I want to make this clear though, you cannot count out Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. This team always does better than expected and could have a good run this season.

And your AFC West champions will be no other than the Los Angeles Chargers! I know they lost week 1 to the Miami Dolphins, but the Miami Dolphins are one of the best teams in the NFL and the Los Angeles Chargers barely lost this game. I think the Los Angeles Chargers have the best overall team in this division. They have a great defense with two of the best edge rushers in the NFL with Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa, they have a top 8 quarterback with Justin Herbert, they have a top 3 running back with Austin Ekeler, and they have two great wide receivers with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. That is why I believe the Los Angeles Chargers will win the AFC West. This is my final ranking of the AFC West. 1. Los Angeles Chargers, 2. Kansas City Chiefs, 3. Las Vegas Raiders, and 4.Denver Broncos.
