Ranking Every AFC Team
Who is the best team in the AFC? We are through 7 weeks of football already with 11 weeks remaining. We have already had 12 NFL teams have their bye weeks with 7 teams in the AFC having their bye weeks already. We have had some exciting and entertaining action through the first 7 weeks. However, we still have a little over half the season to go with 11 weeks remaining, and 9 AFC teams still have their bye week. Here are the current standings through the first 7 weeks. 1. Kansas CIty Chiefs (6-1), 2. Miami Dolphins (5-2), 3. Baltimore Ravens (5-2), 4. Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2), 5. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2), 6. Cleveland Browns (4-2), 7. Buffalo Bills (4-3), 8. Houston Texans (3-3), 9. New York Jets (3-3), 10. Cincinnati Bengals (3-3), 11. Indianapolis Colts (3-4), 12. Las Vegas Raiders (3-4), 13. Tennessee Titans (2-4), 14. Los Angeles Chargers (2-4), 15. New England Patriots (2-5), and 16. Denver Broncos (2-5). However, 7 weeks of football does not and will not fully determine the 2023 season. This ranking will be my personal predictions based off of the overall teams, players, and how I think they will finish the year.
In last place, number 16 will be the Denver Broncos. They just haven’t played very well so far this season and have stated that they are open for trades for all players on their team. This isn’t a good sign and who wants to play for a team that doesn’t want them. At number 15 will be the New England Patriots. They have no future with Mac Jones and I believe they will tank for a better quarterback in the draft. At number 14 will be the Las Vegas Raiders. Jimmy Garrapollo has been injured and when he is on the field he is not playing well. I think they try to draft a quarterback as well as they seem to have no faith in their rookie quarterback stating, “this isn’t the preseason”. At number 13 will be the Tennessee Titans. As a Titans fan this hurts me. I do not like Ryan Tannehill and want him gone. He is injured but they are starting Malik Willis who is also bad over rookie Will Levis. I believe they want to rebuilf the team and make several acquisitions in the offseason. They also just traded our second best defensive player who is the third best safety in the league for a pile of hot trash, which was a fifth and sixth round pick. Whoever approved that trade needs to be fired and never have a job other than fast food. The Tennessee Titans are really in shambles right now. At number 12 will be the Indianapolis Colts. They have been really good on defense and performing alright on offense. However, Anthony Richardson was injured and I just don’t know if they will play the same without him. At number 11 will be the Houston Texans. They have played well so far but I don’t know if they can keep it up as the season goes on and teams fight for the playoffs. At number 10 will be the Pittsburgh Steelers. Once again they have played really well and have had a couple of lucky wins but I just don’t see them hanging with some of the other teams in this division.
At number 9 will be the New York Jets. They have a great defense but Zach Wilson isn’t cutting it. They can potentially be higher if Aaron Rodgers comes back but as of now I can’t rank them much higher. At number 8 will be the Cleveland Browns. They have a great defense and have done good so far. However, they really need a quarterback and I think this hurts their chances of doing well this season. At number 7 will be the Los Angeles Chargers. They have played terrible so far but I believe they will turn it around and have a decent season. At number 6 will be the Jacksonville Jaguars. They have played great so far but have won several close games. I think we will see them lose some games to harder opponents later in the season. At number 5 will be the Buffalo Bills. They started out really good but haven’t played well the past couple of games. Josh Allen hasn’t been playing well and they have lost several key defensive players to injuries. At number 4 will be the Cincinnati Bengals. They started off rough. They played awful. However, Joe Burrow was dealing with an injury. He looks great now and the team has been playing well.
Now for the top 3 of the AFC conference. It is between the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, and the Baltimore Ravens. At number 3 will be the Kansas City Chiefs. Their defense has been great and they have Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce but they have barely won a couple of games this season and to be honest the refs might have helped them out. Some questionable calls were made to help them when they needed to win. They might place higher if we continue to see that happen. At number 2 will be the Miami Dolphins. They have an electric offense and maybe the best offense of all time. They are playing like we have never seen. However, their defense has sucked and is what holds this team back. Them getting a couple cornerbacks back from injury should help this as well. And in first place and leading the AFC will be no other than the Baltimore Ravens!
The Baltimore Ravens started out rocky with some injuries to several players. The past two games they played when everyone was healthy and have looked amazing! Last week they beat the Detroit Lions and hand them their second loss. The Detroit Lions are one of the best teams in the NFC and were favored to win this game. The Baltimore Ravens shut them out, only allowing one touchdown, and their defense looks good. Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews are playing really good. Odell Beckham Jr, Rashad Bateman, Justice Hill, and Gus Edwards are all filling and playing their roles well. And their leader, quarterback Lamar Jackson has been lighting it up! He has finished as a top five quarterback every week so far. He is even in the running for MVP this season. That is why I believe the Baltimore Ravens will win the AFC. Here are my final rankings for the AFC. 16. Denver Broncos, 15. New England Patriots, 14. Las Vegas Raiders, 13. Tennessee Titans, 12. Indianapolis Colts, 11. Houston Texans, 10. Pittsburgh Steelers, 9. New York Jets, 8. Cleveland Browns, 7. Los Angeles Chargers, 6. Jacksonville Jaguars, 5. Buffalo Bills, 4. Cincinnati Bengals, 3. Kansas City Chiefs, 2. Miami Dolphins, and 1. Baltimore Ravens.
